Demographics

Demographics is a study based on factors like age, sex and race etc. Most large companies use demographics in order to determine how to market their product. If there product is designed for a specific group then they will need to know what will attract customers.

Psychographics

Phychographics are similar to demographics, but rather than looking at data it looks at why the customer buys it whilst demographics looks at who buys it. Phychographics looks at social class and locations, for example Oasis: Supersonic which comes out soon will be aimed for people in there late 30's early 40's as they were teenagers when Oasis started, so it will be more appealing to them rather than someone who wasn't born yet.

Geodemographics

Geodemographics is the study and grouping of the people in a geographical area. For example Oasis: Supersonic which comes out soon will be aimed a bit more to people from Manchester as that where they are from and the film is set.

NRS is a system that puts occupations into a category

Assassins creed 

The target audience for assassins creed is 18 to 30 as you have to be 18 to play the game as it contains a lot of violence, and people after 30 don't really play games that often stereotypically. People who are younger than 18 might still play the game but the game originally is aimed at 18+. The game will be aimed at men more as men tend to like violent games more than women do, although there are women that do still play the game even if it is not aimed at them. For the economic groups it will be aimed to the social grade C1 and below, the C1 grade contains jobs like bank clerks and administrates, the jobs below C1 are jobs like plumbers and unemployed people as the higher people like company directors wont have much time to play games.

The target audience for the martian is people 16+ as people under 16 will get bored easily
