Photography

I like this photo of the Chili because you can clearly see the two different colours clash against each other. One thing i dont like is the fact the stalk leans towards the camera causing it to be out of focus.

The lime shows good contrast in colours when in post production and is easy to bring out the green. I also had a problem with this photo as part of the lime was out of focus.

With this photo i created two layers in Photoshop and made them black and white. On one layer i made it blurry and proceeded to use the eraser tool to make the person stand out whilst the background is blurred.

Shutter speed

Shutter speed controls the amount of time the lens shutter is open. If you have a slow shutter speed then the picture is more likely to be blurry if there is any motion involved, but if you have a fast shutter speed then the picture will be a lot sharper. Normally when you are taking photos in a well lit area, like outside on a sunny day, then you will be using a faster shutter speed as it doesn't need that much light in, but if you are taking photos in a dark place then the camera will want to let in as much light as possible, so uses a longer shutter speed.

Aperture

Different lenses have different apertures, the smaller the aperture number, the more light it lets in. It takes the same principles as shutter speed as if you are in a well lit place then you can use a lower f stop, but if you are in a dark area then the lens needs to be as open as it can to let in more light. Also if you use a larger aperture  then you are going to have more depth of field in your photos meaning that if you have something in focus then everything around it will be out of focus.

ISO

The ISO controls how sensitive your camera is to light, for example if you have a low ISO then it will be less sensitive to light, whereas is you have a higher ISO then it will be more sensitive. This is often used to brighten up images but at a cost of having a noisy/ grainy picture.
